Shanghai Heping restaurant located in Chinatown New York will deliver a good Chinese gastronomical experience for sure. The place seats conveniently close to subway stations and is easily accessed. Prices are very reasonable. Food tastes fantastic. The individual meals are generous and may feed 2 with moderate appetite. Staff communicates very basic in English but enough to mutual understanding. Definitely a place to check whenever in Chinatown vicinity. Good experience, keep up the good food!

Food was delicious! We tried the fried dumplings, the soup dumplings and the Szechuan style pork dumplings. They only accept debit cards or cash. Service was below average, felt rushed out and the restaurant had some open tables.

This place serves very amazing and tasty authentic Chinese food. The only thing I recommend is I wish they put more minced pork in the mapo tofu since there was barely any meat in it. But all the others foods were amazing. They also provide refreshing hot tea and hot and spicy sour soup free of service. The staff speak fluent English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

The food was good. Really big portions, and not expensive at all. Some of the dishes are quite good. The lobster rice cake, and chestnut chicken are great. Pork belly and pine nut whole fish were ok. The Xiao Long Bao was really mediocre. The place looks wore down and needed cleanup and renovation.

second time here and the food was VERY good. The owner may seem to have an attitude but that’s just how everything works. She’s actually quite nice. I came here for the food so I wasn’t bothered with whether the service is good or not. The whole dinner cost us $68 for 4 people with 5 dishes. They were all very tasty. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you off because this place deserves to have more business. Shout out to the hard working owner too. She was the only one taking care of all the tables but still very helpful. Definitely give this place a try guys!
